CHARLES MOORE SAYS WE SHOULD LEAVE - DEAL OR NO DEAL

Charles Moore, a columnist in The Telegraph (HERE) and biographer of Margaret Thatcher, a man I used to admire, has written another piece for yesterday's issue that looks like the ravings of a lunatic foaming at the mouth.

He says we have "not completely lost the political skills needed to run an independent nation", adding, "our mindset should be that of a colonial country preparing for independence" as if we had been subjugated for the last 43 years. He says "we will be free to settle down to decide whether it really wants to outbid former European partners in trying to save the planet by loading ever higher energy costs on the population" - we did this the week after the Brexit vote going well beyond the EUs requirements in the 5th Carbon budget.

He thinks we should reapply to EFTA, an organisation we started in 1960 and a year later applied to join the EEC because it wasn't working and thinks, "If we negotiate on the basis that continuing membership of the EU single market is essential to our economic survival, we will lose – betraying voters’ expectations about immigration control as we do so".

Mr Moore, for the umpteenth time, castigates the, “independents” who "were used by ministers to do for them what they dared not do for themselves. In the referendum campaign, the “independent” Institute for Fiscal Studies ventriloquised the official government Remain view. So much weight was put on the “independence” of the Bank of England that Mark Carney, the very personal choice of George Osborne, started to speak as if he, not the British Government, was in charge of the British economy".  The IFS is probably the most respected financial body in the UK and the BoE beyond reproach.

He literally wants us to trade with Europe on WTO rules, we would be the only European country to do so and we would be much worse off.  So opposed to the EU is Mr Moore he is prepared to gamble other people's jobs on the outcome.  What an idiot.  He is a hack who thinks because he writes an article he must be more expert on the subject than the real experts.
