Nigel Adams our local MP has claimed that EU regulations have cause the loss of highly skilled and well paid jobs in our area's coal and power industries (HERE).
I assume this means he will now be campaigning after Brexit to sink some new pits and construct new coal fired power stations otherwise he will look even more of an opportunist than he does already. However, he might find this a bit difficult since his own Energy Secretary, Amber Rudd, announced that a "legally binding" fifth carbon budge laid in parliament on 30th June 2016 is tougher than the carbon emissions target the UK is signed up to as part of the European Union, which requires a 40% cut by 2030 on 1990 levels (see HERE).
Mr Adams seems to be campaigning against his own government's policy and blaming the EU for something his own party is doing.
