RACISM IN THE AFTERMATH OF BREXIT

There has been a huge increase in reports of racial hatred and nowhere more than in Boston which has a substantial immigrant population. A report in the New York Times (HERE) shows how migrants are now being targeted by some local residents.

A few days ago Nick Cohen wrote a piece for the Spectator (HERE) about how Brexit is opening up a terrifying opportunity for right wing groups, an opportunity at least partly created by Vote Leave's decision to put immigration at the front of the argument and legitimise arguments made by far right groups.

Now Anuska Asthana has written (HERE) about the protests from leave campaigners, including Nigel Farage and Gisela Stuart about the citizenship rights of EU immigrants in the UK in which he accuses them of a bit of hypocrisy.  Worryingly, he mentions, "one of the key Vote Leave videos, which showed two scenarios in the NHS. On the left (inside the EU) packed waiting rooms, poor service and a miserable time; on the right (after Brexit), a utopia in which patients sailed through a quiet seating area before leaving quickly, perfectly well and full of smiles.

What does that advert say to people? Clearly that leaving the EU will not just stop more people coming in, but reduce the numbers already here".

I didn't see the video but it sounds terrible.
