A barrister and fellow of Mansfield College, Oxford is arguing that a second referendum may be a legal requirement under the European Union Act of 2011. This was supposed to prevent any treaty change or replacement without the British people being consulted in a referendum.
Pavlos Eleftheriadis says the Act, intended originally as a sop to Eurosceptics, was drafted widely enough to cover almost anything and if we signe a withdrawal agreement or a trade agreement, this is sufficient to require a referendum. Read the whole thing HERE.
The legal hurdles are beginning to increase and the remainers in parliament are said to be keen to do a reverse Maastricht, harrying and delaying things to make life as difficult as possible for the leave camp.
